A little birdie told me yesterday that some serious changes are happening on the first floor. They have taken out a lot of the temporary wooden framing and have started putting a bit of permanent ceiling up. The old staircase should be blasted in the next few weeks and the new front staircase will be constructed after that.

They continue to work inside (where there is heat!) so hopefully after the first of the year I’ll have another video for your viewing pleasure.

So I’m a bit late, but I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving!
Nothing much to report, but I was on campus while it was dark earlier this week and the lights in Classic were on. It’s still nice to see lights on in that building after being so used to it always being dark. I’ll be back soon with a real update. Until then, Happy December!

We went through Classic again this morning. They’ve started putting up framing for new walls and are working on the new stairwells and elevator shaft. Exciting things! – jenny

As promised, the construction has been pulled back a bit away from Howard-Payne. They poured the new sidewalk and the stairs closest to the street late last week.
The finished sidewalk makes it look a tad more finished than all the dirt, holes and tubes that had been all over on that side of campus for most of the summer.

First off I want to say THANK YOU to everyone who has donated to Classic Hall. We have raised enough money to secure our $1,085,500 grant from the Mabee Foundation for Classic!!! We aren’t quite finished with the campaign yet, so if you haven’t given yet, there is still an opportunity. BUT, we met that goal, which is fantastic. (full press release)
Secondly, I wanted to do quick post about what’s been happening with Classic in the last 30 days. I don’t have any new pictures at the moment because you have seen most of what’s been going on. Most of the work is stuff I can’t show you easily, but progress is being made. Here is the “official” list of stuff that’s been happening:

Not a whole lot to report on today. I took a few pictures while I was walking back from lunch today. They have most of the green space between Howard-Payne and Classic all torn up and are putting in the wells. They’ve added a sidewalk right in front of HP that goes down to the square and have a black fence around most of the construction now that students are coming back to campus. They’ve also replaced the first set of stairs by Givens, which really needed to be done!
